~ Shop For Anissa ~ Fundraising for the “Hope 4 Anissa Fund”

Shop for Anissa Day, December 10th, will feature a select group of vendors and shop owners who have generously agreed to donate a percentage of their sales that day directly to the Hope 4 Anissa Fund. (Please read previous post regarding Anissa and the story behind “Shop for Anissa Day”.)

Although I have never met Anissa in person, I read her Blog, I follow her on Twitter and I have “heard” what so many others have to say about her. She is a mom, wife, friend and apparently full of life.

Anissa suffered a massive stroke on November 17th and then another one later in the day. She is still in the hospital and still fighting. Anissa has 3 small children and one of whom has Leukemia they have been battling for a few years.

It is now time to call on friends and strangers alike to help out a mom and her family with fundraising efforts to help with medical bills  that continue to grow each day.

Please click on the “Shop for Anissa” picture and it will link you to my Mary Kay site. I have pledged to donate 25% of all profits from sales today, December 10, 2009.

Will you help make like a little easier for someone who has given so much to others?

Also, please take a look at Aiming Low ~ Anissa is one the writers and contributors for this site. There are many other people and women and moms just like me who are participating in this worthwhile effort! Their companies and weblinks are available there!

Many thanks to each and every one of you who read, spread the word and participate in Anissa’s fundraising day!

Random Tuesday Thoughts

Why is it that children just don’t learn from their mistakes? I mean when you are 3 I completely understand that you may not quite “get it” yet, but when you are 11 – you are old enough to get it!!! I mean, seriously!

We have been having to do back pack checks each day before school (which has been in session for 3 weeks now) to make sure that Miss 11 doesn’t have anything in it she is not supposed to have! She is not supposed to wear makeup, shirts that show her cleavage (yep, cleavage at 11) and anything else we may deem inappropriate!

She really is a great kid, but she sure is DUMB! For a smart child she just has no common sense, and doesn’t realize that we were her age once! nobrainI know I did the same things she is doing, but I was also older than her when I tried doing it! Kids are just exposed to way too much too early these days! AND they develop way too early! Eeeekkk!

Anyway, I did my daily backpack check this morning and found MAKEUP! Crazy child! Eyeliner, mascara, blush, eyeshadow, lipstick, face powder ~ and even if we let her wear it ~ it is all TOO DARK for her! She got into some of my old makeup and some of my Mary Kay samples ~ I guess thinking I wouldn’t miss them or wouldn’t check her backpack! NOT!

Of course she asked me not to tell Daddy ~ of course I called him once I dropped her off at school.

I guess she will learn one of these days that her parents are not idiots! Even if she thinks we are! Sucks for her that she has no ipod, no hanging out with friends, no computer, no phone ~ which in her eyes means she has NOTHING!

She has to earn them back ~ and she will ~ when she is 21!!

Until next time,

So much has happened since my July 4th post!

I don’t even know where to start with all that has been going on! We had a great 4th of July with all the extended family that was at our house. Close to 20 people/kids! None of the below are in any specific order – just as I remember them!

  • I am working hard with my Mary Kay business. If there is anything you need or want, please let me know!
  • I finally got to meet Dani, my future sister in law – Kevin’s brother Chris is getting married next year.
  • I am on my second round of unemployment – there just aren’t many jobs out there that are going to pay more than $10 an hour (I made almost $23 when I was laid off) or give me hours that work with my kids! GA has one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation (like 10.1%)
  • I skyped for the first time ever with Marty! That was really cool – so if you ever wanna Skype let me know!
  • Big Brother (spoiler site) is back on! Yeah! BB11 – although I don’t think this is the greatest season – so far!
  • My mom and my brother aren’t speaking to one another — again!
  • My mom and her twin brother have spoken for the first time in like 3 years! (They have fought since they were in the womb together I am told! LOL)
  • My garden has been producing! Yeah!! We love the fresh tomatoes, cucumbers & squash, and I waiting for the eggplant!
  • My mother is dating her high school sweetheart from 40 years ago which I think is great. (Another story to go with that but to be told another time!)
  • I have not been knitting like I want to and have a baby blanket I need to finish for Little Logan (Synitta’s daughter who will be here in September!)
  • I am totally addicted to Twitter and Facebook that it’s ridiculous!!
  • I have been reading more lately – love that! It’s one of my favorite past times! Lots of Vampire books like The Sookie Stackhouse series and The Undead Series!
  • Samantha, Isabelle and I went to visit mom for a week at Myrtle Beach (where she lives now). We had a lot of fun in the surf and sand and pool!

  • Until Isabelle broke her leg on our last day there. Of course I didn’t know it was broken at the time, we thought it was only sprained. We drove home the day after she did it and took her to the doctor that Monday. After an x-ray and a visit with the Pediatric Orthopedic, they confirmed she has a broken leg.

  • He put her in a boot cast that can be taken on/off for bathing purposes, etc. She has only taken it off twice and that was when she was really pissed! She is now walking on the leg, which means it is healing. Another 2 weeks and we should be able to get rid of the cast!

  • School starts Aug 3rd. Curt will be in 8th grade and Sam is moving up to Middle School to the 6th grade. It’s so hard to believe!

I still keep vowing to update my blog as much as I can, but I seem to find other stuff that occupies my time (like Twitter and Facebook) LOL — and my kids and hubby and family!

Peace, Love & Happiness!
