How was your week?

Published by Christine under blog,cake,crochet,sick

I finished the 6 in square with the snapdragon stitch and it turned out pretty! I will post a pic in a project link on Ravelry soon.

On top of my crazy week with the wasp sting, I ended up at urgent care as it looked like it was getting infected and it spread quickly over a 10 x 5 radius just under my right arm to across to my breast. It looks like a beast! Got a big dose of something in a shot, antibiotics, cream and a by mouth steroid. It is feeling better – I am not clawing -but it still looks horrendous!

Plus I am making my biggest cake  yet for my MIL’s church. They are having a reception this weekend for the Bishop of one of the bigger Episcopal church’s and they asked me to make the cake  – for 150!! I will have the Episcopal shield as its main centerpiece! I will post pics when its finished later this week!
So what is everyone else up to? :-)

Bronchitis & Crochet

Published by Christine under crafts,crochet,sick

So for the previous 4 weeks I have been coughing up a storm along with a cold. I saw my doctor for my yearly visit and he wasn’t too concerned with my cough at that time – only my blood pressure which tends to run a “normal” high even on meds. He gave me a steroid dose pack to help the cough which I promptly had filled and took it like I was supposed too. It didn’t help! Well, as the next few days went on and week 4 started, I became more miserable with my cough. I was coughing so bad, I felt like an 80 year old woman because I peed in my pants every time I coughed! Yes, TMI, I know but it tells you how bad the coughing was! I had no fever thank goodness, but felt miserable. I called the doc that Monday and they told me to call if I got a fever. Two days later I was so bad I called them again and the doc had me come in to see him. As bad as I felt, I just knew I was going to have pneumonia or the H1N1. Doc was surprised at how bad I looked and sounded from the previous week. I didn’t get a chest xray as he determined that I had bronchitis. And he said that even if he thought it was pneumonia, he would be giving me the same treatment as the bronchitis.

So, during the recovery and trying to get my energy back, I began to crochet like crazy! (As mentioned in another post, Melissa and I have self taught ourselves!) I found the cutest little bag pattern and made a couple exactly as it was written. Then I improvised a few after that. Now I am wondering if I can sell them on Etsy or at local art/crafts fairs!! So check out my Esty Shop and here are some pics of my projects I made while recovering from the worst cough I have ever had in my life!

Super Bowl 2010

Published by Christine under family,mindless,sick

Well, it’s Super Bowl weekend. Hoorah! It used to always fall on or close to my birthday weekend but now it seems to find itself about 2 weeks later. No big deal.

Today’s game is exciting for all of us at the Starr Household as it’s the first day in about 5 days that no one has been sick with the stomach crud! And of course everyone wanted cheese dip, doritos and tacos! Yumm!

Iz had it Tues/Wed, I had Thurs/Fri, Samantha Fri/Sat, Kev felt icky on Saturday and Curt has been lucky enough to only have a few rumblings.  I lost a whole 24 hours when I was sick — in total la la land. Thank goodness the older kids could help with the little one until their Daddy got home from work. And thank goodness he knows how to dial chinese for take out! LOL

Today we all feel fine and dandy and hopefully will stay that way until….. always!

Until next time when I really have more to say or share…

Knitting, Buttering, Working, oh my…..

So it’s been like 2 weeks since my last post.  A lot of things have been going on!!!!  First, Saturday two weeks ago, my kids and I were almost in an accident – could have flipped, but didnt.  My car ended up basically sideways and Sam could almost reach out and touch the grass without moving.  This picture doesnt do it justice.    Everyone was fine!  The kids were fine, the car was fine and I was fine!!!!

Second, Curt and I went to see The Dark Knight!  with Synitta and her nephew!  We loved it!!!

Thirdly, I am STILL working on the baby blanket for Carmon’s baby that is due just about any day now!!!!!!  It will be beautiful when I get it finished!!!!  But, damn, I only have so much time to knit and do everything else!!!

Baby blanket for Carmon!
Baby blanket for Carmon!

Fourth, I have been doing really well so far with The Body Shop at Home!  I have had 3 parties and met a few of the goals as a new consultant so I am excited!

Fifth,
work has been quite interesting as well!  I am doing quite a few different things these days as well as possibly getting a promotion into a completely new role for me!!!!  I will keep you posted on that one!
Sixth,
Big Brother 10 has started!  I watch it faithfully three night a week although it has been quite boring other than two of the house guests who are banging each other constantly!!!!  (The video link shows them in the house but all you see are movements and hear them. Nothing graphic.)
Seventh, Isabelle has been sick – mostly congestion and coughing.  I took her to the doctor and they said – she doenst have bronchitis or asthma, but she did have some tightness in her check and some wheezing.  So she had to do a breathing treatment Wednesday night.  You would have thought we were trying to kill her!!!  We finally got through it with a nurse holding her tight and me holding the mask to her face!  What a nightmare!  I am glad this is not a daily part of our life!!
Lastly, it is finally Friday!  I stayed a bit late today because someone is with the kids so I dont have to run straight home.  So, I opted to write a blog with an update on the past two weeks.  Hopefully, I can sit by the pool some this weekend and finish my book and knit a little!!!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Finally found a few minutes to knit and still not breathing well…

Published by Christine under Knitting,sick

Well, I have been itching to knit for a while now since I put it down once I finished all of my Christmas projects.  Either I have not had time, too tired or too sick.  I finally was able to take a few minutes to cast on last night…I am going to knit a mindless pair of wrist warmers that won’t take up too many of my brain cells.  I am basically making up a pattern as I go and I have no idea if it will look good or not but as least I have something on my needles.  It sure if relaxing – as long as I dont have my almost 2 year old trying to run off with my ball of yarn!!!
As for the not breathing well ~~ I have been sick since the first week of January.  I have had sinus infections, cough, chest congestion, etc.  I have been on two antibiotics, 3 different rounds of cough medicine (the good stuff), a 5 day dose pack of steroids, a different blood pressure medicine (apparently the one I was on can cause a cough side effect – I dont think that is the problem) AND an inhaler that is doing nothing for the tightness in my chest or the wheezing or the truck sitting on my lungs!
I called my doc this morning – it will be about the 15th hundredth time I have talking to and/or seen him in the last 2 months.  Hopefully today they will take a chest xray to see if anything is goign on in my chest since every time he listens to it is is clear.  I know its not clear because I have proof when I cough up the nasty crap in my chest.  His nurse of course made me feel better by saying — I hope its not pneumonia — but we’ll see when you come in today.
FUN FUN FUN!!!
That’s my update for 10 am today!  More to follow – espeically if I end up with some crazy ass chest something or another!!
Ta ta for now!
